What is Daily Harvest?
Daily Harvest is one of the more popular healthy meal delivery services delivering healthy meals, smoothies, harvest bowls, soups, flatbreads, oat bowls, chia bowls, ice cream (scoops), bites, and lattes right to your door!
I know what you might be thinking, “won't all my Daily Harvest scoops or smoothies arrive melted?!” NOPE!
What to expect/our honest daily harvest review:
You'll receive a large box packed really well with dry ice and tons of insulation in recyclable packaging. Everything arrives frozen in their individual containers ready for your to blend, heat, or eat right out of the box!
On the side of each meal container or convenient cup is an ingredient list with nutritional information and instructions on how to make it.
Everything is really easy though. All you have to do is add liquid to the fill line on the smoothie cups, then blend. Or pop your flatbread in a toaster oven, or microwave your harvest bowl. It's basically healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snacks delivered right to your door and ready to eat in just a few minutes (the flatbreads take the longest because #ovens, but you could microwave to make it go faster).
Personally, I love keep Daily Harvest meals in the freezer for when we didn't have time to get to the grocery store. The nutritious meals are a great way to avoid take-out! We love keeping the bites in the freezer as healthy snacks for the kids and their cold brew for when we forget to make our iced coffee the night before.
They are a huge time saver when you have a busy schedule but they are also not as cost effective as making your own delicious meals at home; especially for a family. It also took us some time to figure out which of Daily Harvest's meals made the most sense for us and our favorite items.
Overall I'd say we always like to have:
- Flatbreads – most of these are SO delicious. We do add our own cheese to them but they are a personal favorite of everyones! I do a detailed breakdown of the flavors we like in my Daily Harvest Flatbreads Reviewed!
- Forager bowls – we usually eat these with a slice of butter bread as a lunch and LOVE them!
- Bites – great snacks to have on hand
- Oat bowls – I cover a ton of these in my Daily Harvest Breakfasts Reviewed post but these are some of our favorites!
Funny enough, we do not love the smoothies. I think the cups are just too big for our freezer and we are pretty good at keeping our house stocked with smoothie ingredients. While you can use any liquid of choice for them (oat milk, coconut water, etc.) I prefer them with regular ol' milk unless it's one of their tropical organic fruits smoothie then coconut water is fine.
Is Daily Harvest healthy?
Yes! They use 98% organic ingredients sourced from sustainable farms. More than that though, they focus on whole, real ingredients and limited processing. Daily Harvest products use ingredients picked at peak ripeness for the best finished product. There's no added sugar, fillers, gums, etc.

They are a plant-based meal delivery service with vegan meals – so no dairy or meats.
They even have an option to sort the plant-based foods on their website by diet! I love this because we eat an anti-inflammatory diet to manage my husbands arthritis and heal my daughter's leaky gut!

How does it work and is Daily Harvest Worth the money?
When you sign up for Daily Harvest you choose between weekly or monthly delivery. Currently the weekly delivery gives you options for 9, 14, or 24 items. The monthly delivery comes with 24 items.
Depending on what you get in your box can vary the price of each box you get. Also depending on the number of items changes the price per item a touch. For example, you get $10 off when ordering 14 items, and $20 off when ordering 24 items – this “bulk discount” can bring the price of some items from $7.99 to $7.49 and so on.
All items are priced between $5.99 to $8.99.
When you compare purchasing these items through Daily Harvest versus a local organic juice shop or shopping at Whole Foods, I've found that pricing is either on par or cheaper through Daily Harvest with the added bonus of not having to spend time/gas money to pick the food up.
Is Daily Harvest easy to cancel?
Yes! Just click “Edit Plan” in the bottom right corner when logged in. Then click “Cancel My Plan” in the pop-up window.
And if you want to just skip a box, go to “my plan” and do it with just a click!
–> This is what I suggest doing: order a monthly box of 24 items for the biggest discount, then just skip your next box until you're ready to order again, we get it once a quarter now.
When/Who Do I think Daily Harvest is perfect for?
If you're looking for a meal delivery service to help in a weight loss journey, I think Daily Harvest is a great solution. The meals are pre-portioned and balanced.
Meaning you can get your fats, proteins, and carb fix. I've found in my own health journey that when I eat a balanced diet, I end up not craving sweets since I'm getting my needs met otherwise.
Furthermore, Daily Harvest focuses on organic whole ingredients, which are always going to help in any weight loss journey over processed packaged foods full of empty calories and fillers. For instance, their flatbread pizza is made with Cassava flour which is a root vegetable packing WAY more nutritional value over a frozen pizza with a chemically coated white flour that just turns to sugar in you.
Second, I think Daily Harvest is great for pregnancy and new moms who need extra calories/meals to keep up with a growing baby. These are the perfect little addition to grab a healthy option – over say like chips? I know when I'm tired is when I tend to order out more or eat junk, so having these on hand can be REALLY helpful during those transitional times in our lives where we may feel a little more tired and stressed.
I'm someone who believes food fuels us and leaves an energetic imprint on us that can change our moods and even our pain levels. When I eat at good food with good ingredients I feel better; when I eat processed junk, I feel worse. So even if you're not pregnant or with a new baby but maybe you're just feeling burnt out I think it's a great option to support you body physically and emotionally. For instance, when I started eating more whole foods and less processed foods, inflammation in my body went down and it was one major factor in reducing my chronic headaches from over 6 hours a day 6 days a week to basically nonexistent.

Kale + Sweet Potato Flatbread Review
WOW! All I can say about this flatbread! It was SO delicious. I initially gave it a B+/A- but then found myself craving it and dreaming about it in the weeks to follow so I'm going to actually give it an A. I did add a slice of cheese onto half of it. Honestly it didn't do much in the way of adding flavor – the flatbread is so good on its own – but I was starving so added it for the extra protein. And also because mentally, I like seeing cheese on my flatbreads HA! As someone who typically makes their own Sweet Potato Kale Flatbread, I have to say Daily Harvest did an amazing job with theirs! Plus it was nice to have it ready in just a few minutes instead of an hour and having to roll out the dough, etc.
Sweet Potato + Wild Rice Hash Bowl
This is really good too! It's something I'll 100% make from scratch at home so it's a larger portion for the family. I loved that it was ready in 5 minutes, with no clean up! The flavor is exactly what you'd expect with a tomato based sauce. The avocado bits in it offered a hint of lime and a sweetness that brought the whole bowl together! I really enjoyed this. The serving size was great too! It kept me full for the night, even after sharing it with my toddler.
Mint + Cacao Smoothie
Okay so they say this smoothie takes like Mint Chip ice cream and I'll say this: it doesn't not taste like Mint Chip Ice cream haha!
So the initial taste of this smoothie was a little underwhelming – not that it was bad, just a little bland. I did run out of vanilla almond milk and had to use water to make it – which I think played a big roll in the underwhelming flavor profile.
But the aftertaste of this smoothie was SO good. I also really liked the cacao nibs, which got my to chew my smoothie (a REALLY important thing to do always! Chewing your smoothies or soups signals to your digestive system you're going to send food so it'll start creating digestive enzyme).
All in all, I really liked this smoothie and would order it again. It was a nice consistency, great after taste, and quite refreshing. If you wanted it to be more like mint chip ice cream though I'd add either a date or a scoop of vanilla protein powder to bring in a little more sweet/vanilla undertones.
Acai + Cherry Smoothie
This is one of their best selling Daily Harvest smoothies but I didn't love it. That's a personal bias though – I'm not a big tart berry smoothie person and this was definitely heavier on the cherry than the acai. It tasted like a purple popsicle. Personally I preferred the Vejo tart berry smoothie over this.
It wasn't bad, it was just disappointing considering it's a best seller. I actually preferred Vejo's Tart Berry smoothie over this one.
Carrot + Cinnamon Smoothie
This was a SHOCKING winner! If you want some fall vibes in your life, this is the smoothie for you!
It literally does taste like carrot cake. Maybe because I went in with the lowest expectations I was most pleasantly surprised? I'd never had a smoothie with sweet potato or carrots before and it did not disappoint! My daughter loved it too!
Vanilla + Salted, Swirled Black Sesame Scoop Ice Cream
Okay so this was a bit of a whirlwind. When I first got the Daily Harvest ice cream out of the box it wasn't melted – but it wasn't super forzen either. It was the perfect ice cream consistency where you can eat a whole container with a spoon. Initially I REALLY liked this. It's not sweet, but got my ice cream fix in. However, when I put it in the freezer and went back to it later that day, it had frozen… not so great.
This is an issue I've experience with any coconut based ice cream – so it's not a Daily Harvest issue. It's just that coconut bases can sometimes have a little frost bitten/icey effect to them instead of the “creamy” effect we desire when you re-freeze – even when you let them sit out for 10 min on the counter. My solution was to just use the ice cream in chunks moving forward and reblend in my Vitamix with some banana and dates or even coconut cream to give it a creamier finish by turning it into more of a milkshake than ice cream.
