Strawberry + Peach Smoothie
This smoothie smells SO good! Personally, I think it smells better than it tastes. It does taste good; just not great. With that said, while I like peaches, I don't love peaches. I probably only get them once or twice a year – so that's my personal bias right there.
The flavor is very much strawberry peach. It's very soft/subtle and reminds me of childhood. My daughter absolutely devoured this smoothie (as you can see in the video). I had it after a long, hot South Florida walk hoping it'd quench my deep thirst… but it left a little something to be desired. I think I wanted a little more sweet/tart from the strawberries and a little less peach. I'd definitely get it again, but it's not one I'm adding to my cart each time.
Chocolate + Blueberry Smoothie
I was really excited to try this smoothie but I think it's quite possibly one of my least favorite Daily Harvest smoothies. It's NOT bad. It's just underwhelming/boring. It basically tastes like a chocolate protein shake with a slightly tart blueberry undertone/after taste.
It was thick and creamy (I did about 80% almond milk and 20% water). The texture and consistency were great. The taste just didn't seem worth it to me. I think this smoothie could be improved by adding some mint.
In fact, I think a perfect smoothie would by to hybrid this one with their mint chip one!
Cold Brew + Cacao Smoothie
I was really excited to try this one! It's delicious, has a great texture (not smooth, a bit chunky which is great if you try to chew your smoothies for optimal digestion like me), but was super rich. It tastes exactly like a mild chocolate cold brew.
Plus it's packed with superfoods like ashwagandha (reduces stress while improving energy) and lion's mane (believed to reduce anxiety while in boosting brain function without the jitteriness of traditional coffee). Aside from powerful mushrooms (which is does NOT have the mushroom coffee taste at all), it also uses a house made cold brew coffee that's lower in acid and easier on digestion.
Apple + Cinnamon Oat Bowl
I'm not exaggerating when I say, this could be the BEST oatmeal bowl I've ever had. It literally smells like heaven. The perfect apple cobbler right from the oven type of smell.
The mix of pumpkin seeds and walnuts give it a great bite, while the cinnamon melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with the apple. I honestly didn't expect to love apple cinnamon oatmeal so much – like how good could it really be compared to others? Turns out, pretty dang good!
Mulberry + Dragon Fruit Oat Bowl
Okay so I was a little skeptical. I'd never had a mulberry before, and dragon fruit isn't sweet really in my experience. It was just boring. My skepticism only grew upon my first taste….
My initial taste was just the blueberries and raspberries. It's not that it was bad by any means! It just felt like anything I could've easily done at home, and was quite tart. So tart, I added a little honey to hopefully sweeten it up a bit (don't recommend doing that; it didn't add anything to the bowl).
BUT THEN… the mulberries hit my tongue! And my entire opinion on this oat bowl changed! In fact, my only complaint is that there aren't more mulberries. Mulberries added the perfect amount of sweetness into each bite. I'd definitely get this again, and just make sure to mix it up well, and cut the mulberries (easy to do with spoon), in half so that I can get a taste of them in more bites.
Coffee + Almond Latte
I was SO confused when I first opened this! I missed the memo that it's actually THREE lattes in the cup! So when I first opened and saw three plastic little pods I was VERY confused… “uh did they seriously individually wrap each of the ingredients??”
But then I realized they had made each pod into a coffee concentrate. They recommend blending it up with 1 and 1/4 cups of almond milk. I did just 1 cup of almond milk and thought it was perfect.
I will say this: If you are used to super sweet coffee, you may need to add something to sweeten it a bit.
And if you've been looking to make the switch to an organic/healthier coffee this is a great option. Or if you've been wanting to jump on the superfood mushroom coffee bandwagon but haven't loved any mushroom coffees, this is the PERFECT transitional coffee IMO. You get the earthy undertones that come with mushroom coffee, with also your regular jolt from a black coffee concentrate, and of course the milkiness from the milk of your choice.
I'd been drinking coffee with a creamer that was super sweet – which I was trying to get off of – and this was the PERFECT option. It took me about 3-5 sips for my brain/tastebuds to get the memo that this wasn't “the usual” cup of joe it'd grown used to but it was delicious. In fact when I went back to my normal coffee the next day (to finish off my creamer), I was totally grossed out by it and it's overly sweet/chemical finish. So this was a HUGE WIN!
Lastly, I'd probably order this coffee above the cold brew smoothie I mentioned earlier. I liked the flavor of this a bit more (once my taste buds adjusted), and it's more affordable overall. With that said, the smoothie doubles as breakfast AND coffee so I guess some could argue the smoothie is more affordable since you are getting 10 grams of protein and don't need to spend money on breakfast too.
