No Mess Fall Toddler Activity: Sticker Shapes

If you're looking for a simple, no mess fall activity to do with your toddler or preschooler at home, look no further than sticky shapes! It sounds messy, but it isn't! The best part? You only need two supplies and can set it up in under a minute!

This is a great activity to have ready-to-go in your kitchen if you're trying to get dinner on the table or in your child's montessori inspired playroom as it fosters a ton of independence, and works spatial relations, fine motor skills, and more!

Fall shapes printed out (download here!)
Circle stickers (we used these)

How To Set Up Fall Sticker Shapes:

Simply print out the fall shapes and take out the matching colored sticker sheets.

That's it!

Model:

Show your child how to take the corresponding color of each shape and fill in the fall shapes.

Skill development by age:

Circle sticker activities are great for refining fine motor skills (pulling the stickers off and getting them on the line). While also boosting concentration.

For younger toddlers, you may want them to just fill in the shape with the corresponding sticker.

Once your child graduates from them, teach them to trace the outline of the shape with the stickers. This will help them them organize information and work on spatial relations.

As your preschooler gets older, you can give write numbers or letters on the stickers and numbered shapes and have them create the fall images by number or letter instead of color (you'd also label each shape in this scenario with the corresponding numbers/shapes). This is a good little hack to use if you run out of the colored sticker you'd need too!

This takes literally 1 minute to setup and cleanup.

The colored sticker pack I have even comes with a bag, so you just pull the sheets your kid will need to do the activity.

BONUS: The sticker sheet pack I have has no backing to it, it's just circles on a sheet. Making it easy for young toddlers to get on and off themselves!

How my toddler liked this activity:

She LOVED creating fall shapes with the circle stickers!

She was very meticulous in how the stickers overlapped and filled in the gaps of the acorn and felt so proud in her work as the form came to life.

Overall, I'd say she engaged with this activity for about 25 minutes the first day but asked to do it again the next day (she didn't finish all the shapes, she just did two that first day). The next day it kept her just as engaged. She was very proud to show her dad her work too!
