Brown Rice Taco Bowl
A classic bowl with flavors you'll recognize! Full of high fiber and protein while being low in calories, sodium, fat, and sugar. It's a plant-based or gluten free friendly option many will be grateful for.
With that said, I found this bowl to have some minor issues. I didn't love the consistency. The kale was in really big chunks, and then the sweet potato was in too small of chunks for my liking. It also had a pretty strong kick that left me wanting to add cheese or a tortilla to balance it out.
NOTE: I am NOT a spicy person. Most people would probably not mind/think about the kick.
Overall I'd say this is good, but not the best Splendid Spoon bowl out there.
Roasted Cauliflower Bowl
A creamy tahini sauce coating chickpeas and cauliflower for the perfect savory and sweet delight! This reminded me of cauliflower side dishes I've ordered at restaurants and loved. It's high in fiber and protein while being low in sodium. Another great gluten-free and plant based option!
I do think this bowl would be better heated on a stove top than the microwave. But I also found it satisfying right out of the fridge.
Lastly, I think it's great on its own, but wouldn't be upset if they added something a little sweeter to it. Whether that's a sweet potato, golden raisins, or currants.
Overall I'd say this is one of my favorite Splendid Spoon bowls and would definitely get it again.
Green Goddess Quinoa Bowl
MMM if you love a good “green” bowl this will be up your alley! It smells amazing as soon as you take the lid off. Like pesto! Only to reveal giant crunchy snap peas, broccoli, and other delicious veggies. Its low calorie, sodium and sugar. While being high in fiber and protein.
I will say, I didn't notice a citrus dressing taste at all. Instead it just tasted like a bland pesto. It felt like it needed a push towards sweet (like golden raisins added) or salty (like parmesan cheese).
Despite where it fell a little short, it was really good and one of the best Splendid Spoon bowls I tried!
Vegetable Bolognese Bowl
This was the grain bowl I was most pleasantly surprised about!
I had a very hard time initially wrapping my head around the fact that the bolognese bowl had quinoa, not pasta. Once my brain processed that, I was able to enjoy the classic bolognese flavor! It's low carb, sodiu, and calories. High protein, and a thoroughly satisfying gluten-free plant based option!
In fact, this was the best Splendid Spoon bowl I tried!
Roasted Brussels Sprout Bowl
Oh I had such high hopes for this bowl! From the first bite I tried (cold, right from the fridge) it seemed like it'd be a winner but it ended up being my least favorite Splendid Spoon bowl we tried!
So first, let me say, I don't like brussel sprouts. But they are big chunks and very easy to take out. I do LOVE the other ingredients. In fact, the other ingredients are probably my favorites which is why I had such high hopes.
Unfortunately the dijon-cider sauce was just WAY to much for both my husband and I (and he LOVES sauces).
