Today I'm sharing how I took our bay window from drab to a whimsical statement window for only $50! This is a really easy DIY that is also budget friendly for any type of window in your home. Instead of a curtain rod, we are going to be using cup hooks. I love using cup hooks because they allow you to also use the window frame come the holiday time!
Bay windows in particular can be tricky. They are often an odd shape for a traditional curtain rod. Or if you can use a curtain rod, like in my case, it'll be unsightly and oddly exposed. I wanted a way to filter the harsh afternoon light and soften this little corner. I also opted for curtains in this spot because we haven't decided to redo the window yet. You'll notice the windows are a little banged up, and the window sill doesn't really match anything. The curtains is a great way to distract from the aforementioned, in my opinion.
Anyway, without further ado, here's the easy DIY video for my little curtain hanging hack around your window!
As you'll see in the video, you can easily switch between curtains or garland. Come Halloween, I'll be decorating mine with spider webs and skulls. During birthdays, it's a great spot for a “Happy Birthday” banner too. Also, what I'm most excited about, is transforming this spot into a winter wonderland come Christmas with some evergreens and twinkly lights. The possibilities are really endless!
