To kick things off, I'm sharing with you how I made this Christmas Ornament Garland for under $3 using only items from the Dollar Tree! It's super customizable based off what you already have and what the rest of your decor looks like! I opted for colors that match our green and gold Christmas Tree theme this year. No need to be crafty either for this DIY, it's so easy that even kids can do it!

DIY Christmas Ornament Garland Supplies:
- Twine or string or yarn
- Scissor
- Ornaments (I got mine from the Dollar Tree) NOTE: the number of christmas ornaments for this garland really depend on the length of spacing. There's no right or wrong amount!
Steps-by-Step Tutorial To Make A Christmas Ornament Garland For Under $3! Cheap, Easy, Dollar Tree DIY:
Step 1: Measure the length of string you need.
Figure out where you want to hang your christmas ornament garland and then measure the length. However you'll want to cut your string between 25-50% longer than you think you'll need. This is because as you tie the christmas ornaments onto the string it will shorten. So if you need 2 ft of string to reach your distance, I'd cut 3 feet. You can always cut the excess ends off when you finish particularly since you'll be starting from the middle, not an end.
Step 2: Find your middle
If you are working with only one or two ornament designs, you can start at an end, but if you have different patterns like I do, definitely start by putting an ornament in the middle and knot it in place.
Step 3: Create an even pattern going outward evenly.
Use the same style ornament on either side of your center ornament to create a pattern if you are working with a few different styles of ornament. Keep repeating with matching ornaments on opposites sides of the garland.
Quick Tip on spacing your DIY christmas ornament garland:
Space the ornaments out evenly using a measuring stick or your finger.
Second spacing tip for your DIY christmas ornament garland:
Double check spacing throughout by holding the middle ornament in one hand, and the opposite sides in the other hand evenly. If the matching ornaments don’t line up evenly, then they aren’t spaced right. Just unknot and adjust accordingly.
If you are using ornaments from the Dollar Tree like me…
Make sure you lay something under your work area. Dollar Tree glitter tends to come off pretty easy and get everywhere! Next, some of their ornament holes may be a little defective. Only one of mine was (shown in video) where I couldn't string my twine through the hole because it was too closed off. Consider buying extra ornaments or using a thinner string, or be prepared with some sort of needle to weave the string through better as the ends will fray on the twine.
